What is paintless dent removal?
Paintless Dent Repair or Paintless Dent Removal (PDR) is a repair technique that uses specialized skills and tools to repair small to large dent damage on car panels without the need to repaint them.
NOTE: in some cases, the crease or dent may be extremely sharp, and the paint may crack. This will be discussed prior to work commencing.
Paintless Dent Removal is an environmentally friendly method of dent repair as there is no need to use fillers, sanding or repainting.
Paintless Dent Removal saves time and money over conventional car dent repairs.
How Does Paintless Dent Repair Work?
Paintless Dent Repair or Paintless Dent Removal works, primarily, by pushing the damaged area of the dent with custom designed Paintless Dent Repair tools, from the underside of the panel where the dent is located. When there is no access to the underside of the dent, specialised Glue Pulling equipment is used.
The first stage of Paintless Dent Repair is to assess the size and location of the dent. During this initial stage we will look at the make and model of car to understand whether the panels are made of Steel or Aluminium.
Aluminium is a harder and stronger material with no memory, whilst Steel wants to spring back to its original shape. Aluminium will generally take longer to repair a dent.
While assessing the dent repair damage, we will look at how to best access or get to the dent. In some case there will be the need to remove internal trims, linings, taillights, or panels; for example, if your Roof has been damaged by Hail, the Roof Lining will be removed to gain access to the Hail damage from the underside. Another example is the Bonnet Dent Repairs.
Due to the structure of Bonnets, most of the time, bonnets will be removed and placed on a specially designed table to help access the dent repair damage without causing further damage.
Paintless Dent Repair Pricing
Dent Repair Pricing will be quoted based on the Size, Sharpness, Complexity and Location of the Dent or Crease. Another consideration is whether the Panel is Metal or Aluminium.
